He, however, said this would not be possible, if the Yoruba did not vote the All Progressives Congress (APC) and return of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019 general elections.
Osinbajo spoke, yesterday, at the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi’s palace, when he paid courtesy call on the monarch before holding a town hall meeting in Atiba Hall, where he promised artisans and traders of Tradermoni.
He said the Yoruba shouldn’t be disenchanted on account of a few challenges in the polity. Rather, they should consider what is coming to them in 2023.
Osinbajo, who addressed the first class monarch and his chiefs in Yoruba language, said: “For us, including Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we always look to Alaafin for direction because of his political sagacity. He is full of wisdom that no university can teach you.”
Reacting to comments by some traders that some people asked them to collect forms and pay between N1, 000 and N2, 500 to be beneficiaries of the Federal Government largesse, Osinbajo denied knowledge of such forms and urged the people to beware of scammers.
Also speaking at the event, Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, who accompanied the Vice President, said 2019 election would determine the Yoruba’s future in Nigerian politics.
He said the Vice President came to visit Alaafin because of his position in Yorubaland, and as a lover of President Buhari.
The National Coordinator of Agbekoya, Hammed Olasunkanmi urged the Vice President to halt the invasion of their farmland by herdsmen to prevent unavoidable clash.
