Tinubu Used Lagos Money To Build TVC - Sowore Reveals

The presidential candidate of African Action Congress - Omoyele Sowore has accused a former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of stealing from the Lagos State treasury to establish a televison station, Television Continental, TVC.

The founder of the online news agency Sahara Reporters made the damning allegation while speaking to journalists recently.

Sowore who is a graduate of the University of Lagos and Columbia University, U.S, made the allegation in reaction to a question about being funded by Tinubu who was the Lagos State governor between the year 1999 to 2007.

"So I'm sponsored by Tinubu but I don't know who Tinubu is. And you all in the media cannot find evidence of even a meeting between me and Tinubu or a phone call between me and Tinubu or even any financial transaction. That means the media is not doing it... You cannot be reporting hearsays," he said.

He went on to explain that he has always wielded more political influence than Tinubu.

"You know I, in 1992, when we go to meetings where we were fighting for democracy in this country in 1993, I will be sitting in front as the Student Union President of the University of Lagos, Bola Tinubu will be sitting in the back. Before the call him, I will have to speak first. With due respect, I may not be as old as he is but I'm better and more influential than he is in this country. I have been doing activism for 30 years. Before Bola Tinubu set up TVC, I set up Sahara Reporters. You know and I set it up on my own sweat with a laptop but he used Lagos money and the Lagos Polytechnic as the headquarters" he also added.

He also went on to say he has only met Tinubu just once in his life which was in the year 1999 specifically as he challenged Tinubu to come out if he has a different response to his claim.

He attributed the rumours of the alleged political relationship with Tinubu to former President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in the light of his defeat to the APC candidate, Muhammadu Buhari during the presidential election in 2015.
