The former IICC (now Shooting Stars Sports Club) goalkeeper is lying on the hospital bed fighting acute stroke and loss of memory. In the same vein, some stakeholders and ex-internationals are already clamouring for support in order to save the life of the country’s national hero.
Top on the list is ex-international Tajudeen Disu, who called on the general public particularly former players to help ailing Raymond.
“Please let us help Raymond king, he is at the point of death but we can still save him by donating for his medical bills, I have done that with with N50,000 (fifty thousand naira), please let’s save his life,” Disu appealed.
Another stakeholder of the game, Demola Adeleke solicited the former Shooting Stars, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) chieftains to come to Raymond King’s aid. “All IICC Shooting Stars players, NFA Please Save Raymond King!!! He needs help,” he stated.
The prolific goalkeeper popularly called ‘Ramoni Oba’ in Yoruba (interpreted Raymond King in English) gave his best during his active days for clubs and country. The former Seventh Day Adventist School, Saint Finbaar’s College Akoka, Wema Bank FC, Julius Berger FC Lagos, IICC Ibadan and Nigeria international goalkeeper is dying slowly as a result of the sickness. Raymond was a striker before converted to goalkeeping role by his primary school coach and came to limelight in 70s and 80s.
The former wife of the soccer legend Oluseyi King has taken up the responsibility.
