The state Police Public Relations Officer, Muktar Aliyu, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Kaduna.

Aliyu, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, said the suspect was arrested on December 22, 2017, after the police in the state received an intelligence report.

He explained that the state Commissioner of Police, Agyole Abeh, promptly mobilised his men and sent them to the area.

Aliyu said, “We received intelligence report that a suspected counterfeit drug had been sighted at the Sabon Gari Central Market area in Kaduna metropolis.

“Police surveillance team were promptly deployed in the scene, where large quantities of Amcloxin Capsules, totalling 250,000 packets suspected to be fakes, were recovered by our operatives.”

The police spokesman said a preliminary investigation revealed that the drug recovered was substandard.

He said the state police commissioner had directed that the exhibits  be immediately sent to a laboratory for scientific analysis.
