Marilou Danley, 62, who was in the Philippines at the time of the shooting, was met by FBI agents after she touched down in Los Angeles on Tuesday night.
Pictures showed her being whisked through customs in a wheelchair.
Sheriff Joseph Lombardo, who has called Danley a “person of interest” in the attack, said: “We anticipate some information from her shortly.”
But shortly before she landed, the sisters of Danley said they believe she was “sent away” to the Philippines by boyfriend Stephen Paddock to prevent her from stopping the Las Vegas massacre that claimed the lives of 59 people.
Speaking to Seven News on condition of anonymity, a sister of Danley said: ‘I know that she doesn’t know anything as well like us.
‘She was sent away. She was away so that she will not be there to interfere with what he’s planning.’
She added: ‘She didn’t even know that she was going to the Philippines until Steve said: “Marilou, I found you a cheap ticket to the Philippines”‘.
‘In that sense I thank him for sparing my sister’s life.’
Danley, who was also wired $127,000 by the gunman, returned back to the U.S. for questioning late on Tuesday night.
With police yet to establish a key motive for the crime, her sisters believe that she may be able to ‘put the puzzles together’.
‘To be able to find out the person you love and live with can do such a thing and you thought you know the person yourself’, she added.
As the investigation continues, police have also released footage of the cops who were forced to hide from bullets as they heroically attempted to end Stephen Paddock‘s reign of murderous gunfire in Las Vegas.
