Arsenal Eddie Nketiah sets record after rescuing Arsenal in the Carabao Cup

Edward Nketiah has set a new record for Arsenal after scoring twice to rescue Arsene Wenger’s side against Norwich City in the Carabao Cup. The Gunners appeared to be on course for a humiliating result at the Emirates Stadium as they fell behind through Josh Murphy’s first-half strike.

But Nketiah found the net with five minutes remaining to force extra time. The 18-year-old forward then popped up with his second of the game to give Arsenal the lead in the first half of extra time.

The 18-year-old came off the bench against Norwich City with his side trailing and scored just 15 seconds later with his very first touch, before heading in the winner in extra time. Nketiah actually started his career in west London with Chelsea, but was release in 2015 over concerns he was too lightweight.

Arsenal took a chance on the youngster, and he repaid it with a superb cameo that sealed his side’s progress into the quarter-finals, and Wenger was delighted with his star turn – and Chelsea’s decision to let him go. Speaking after the match, the Frenchman said: ‘I don’t know why Chelsea decided to let him go. You see that more and more these days. Young people going from one club to another.
