Bishop Kukah reconciles Uduaghan, Utomi

The immediate past Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, has reconciled with Prof. Patrick Utomi after months of verbal attacks over the financial state of Delta.
SUNDAY PUNCH gathered that peace was brokered between the two politicians by the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Kukah, on Saturday in Abuja.

The duo fell apart when Utomi, accused previous governments in the state, including that of Uduaghan, of mortgaging the future of the state through excessive borrowing and alleged diversion of funds.

Miffed by Utomi’s comment, Uduaghan at a PDP’s stakeholders’ meeting in Asaba, urged the former presidential candidate to contest the post of a councillor in his ward, instead of aiming to be the next governor.

The former governor’s spokesman, Mr. Areh Sunday, took to his Facebook on Saturday to announce their reconciliation.

Areh also shared a picture of the meeting with Bishop Kukah, who has been a friend to the two politicians, holding their hands in confirmation that the feud was over.

“From left, immediate past Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, Catholic Archbishop of Sokoto, His Eminence Hassan Kukah and APC governorship aspirant, Prof Pat Utomi, during a peace meeting brokered by Bishop Kukah at the Kukah Centre in Abuja on Saturday, September 16, 2017,” Areh’s  post read.
