He said that “What the panel recommended as gazetted is that there will be no longer promotion from Mogaji (Compound Head) to Jagun both in the Otun line and Balogun line in the Olubadan Chieftaincy line until the present Jaguns in the Otun Olubadan and Balogun lines rise to become Ikolaba Balogun and Ikolaba Olubadan.”
Kolade also announced that parts of the recommendations was the reduction of the steps in the Otun Olubadan line from 22 to 11 and reduction of the 23 steps in the Balogun line to 12.
He stated that the steps were taken in order to have young people becoming Olubadan.
Kolade also announced that the panel also recommended total eradication of Seriki line in the Olubadan chieftaincy line, saying after those in the Seriki line have been fused away, there will be no more Seriki chiefs in Ibadanland.
“The gazette has also put a stop to Seriki. There will be no Seriki line anymore. We will allow those who are there until they fused out. Then there will be no more Seriki.
“All the Senior Chiefs in the Olubadan Chieftaincy line have been promoted to part two (2) Obas or Chiefs in the state. From Ekerin Olubadan and Ekerin Balogun will now be addressed as Obas.
“The local government where they preside is there already, all the 11 High Chiefs are presiding over a local government area before, they will preside over there now.
“With this, we will be able to increase the status of the Olubadan”, he said.
Speaking on the absence of the Osi Olubadan and former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, Kolade declared that the state government was still waiting for the former governor to pick his own crown.
“We are still expecting and waiting for his availability, the Osi Olubadan of Ibadanland to take up his crown”, he said.
Commissioner for Information Culture and Tourism, Mr. Toye Arulogun while also speaking said that what the state government did was in accordance with the law.
