Report emerged during the week that the 41-year-old okada rider died as a result of the torture and injury sustained from the police officer.
Eric in company of other officers had allegedly arrested Ibrahim and 8 other persons and demanded from them the whereabouts of one Ilesanmi, who was alleged to have caused trouble in Idi-Oro area of the state sometime in April 2017.
The suspects, however denied knowing Ilesanmi’s whereabouts, but were taken to the Area Command where they were detained.
Eric, joined by the other policemen were said to have singled out Ibrahim and accused him of being Ilesanmi, torturing him to confess or give information on Ilesanmi’s whereabouts, thereby inflicting him with serious injuries which reportedly led to his death.
Ibrahim died on Saturday after being released on bail Wednesday.
But reacting to the incident, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole told DAILY POST that Ibrahim was not tortured but was released on bail.
According to the PPRO, the state police command is already investigating the reported torture of the commercial motorcyclist by one of his officers, assuring that the law will prevail.
He said, “The suspect wasn’t tortured and was released on bail without no complaint. But there is an ongoing investigation on the alleged report.” RECEIVE NEWS UPDATE ON: WHATSAPP +234 701 056 0394, AND TWITTER: @247NGNEWSUPDATE, EMAIL: INFO@247NIGERIANEWSUPDATE.CO FOR INSTANT UPDATES ON INSTAGRAM CLICK HERE Share your story with us: firstname.lastname@example.org PLACE YOUR TEXT ADVERT BELOW:>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
