- Charles Oputa popularly called charly boy speaks about the action
- Nigeria top arts are voicing about Nigeria current situation
Gone are the day when our musicians can only be recognized in their own hood, now it all over the world with the help of different appearances, performance and all achievements.
Nigeria entertainment industry is more, more than a minor thing. With the help of our celebrities in different industry including Nollywood and music. This people were able to lift the country to a height of non-stop – global recognition.
Take a look at Fela Kuti; the legend fela. He used his creativity, voice, career, energy and eventually sacrifice himself for a whole nation which has made him a legend and celebrated all time. Likes of Sammy Okposo, 2 face idibia, dbanj, 9ice, charley boy, baba fryo, our own ibile man; daddy shokey. Talking of the high life and inspirational songs – we talk of sir Ebenezer Obe, sir Sunny Ade, Ma Salawa Abeni, Evan. Tope alabi, Ma Onyeka Onwenu, I.k dairo, Sir Shina Peter and many to mention few.
Let say maybe the ‘parasite’ eating or crawling our political mind and way of thinking is trying to fight its way into our entertainment industry… NO, it can’t.
Then why put political habitual attitude into our entertainment, maybe that’s why our football team is dropping drastically?
Straight to the point, Federal Government breaks the air with is condemnation off Nigeria celebrities to stop producing movie on another man’s land.
Fine, we partially understand his grieve. There’s this primary rhyme back then about a leader, it says, ‘be of good example to your follower.’
This action is known as ‘blind actions’ and any blind action will result in ‘blind reaction’, but that Nigerians are not ready for that.
Where’s our president, for past 60 day plus, the president of federal republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari is out of the country for medical treatment.
‘We all pray for his quick recovery’ Amen
Nigerian spend millions of USD or say British pounds because our president is in United kingdom.
Yet our government claim to have equip our hospitals to meet standards yet our so called leaders don’t go near them for even check up – I guess they don’t.
What happened to Aso rock hospital, with much equipment? to me the hospital is useless if it can’t be operated to perform effective treatment on out president and other top officials.
Our leader look for the best school in oversea country for their children to school especially UK or USA, spending more of our fund on other man’s country.
Yet, someone said entertainment movie in Nigeria should not be carried to others countries.
Crazy world, like baba Fela Kuti will say.
Our senators, ministers, governors, trying to find it way among local chairmen. Strive hard, I mean fights hard to embezzle the nations funs and lavish it on other country in the name of child schooling.
Yet, they claim our schools are well equipped.
Maybe in their dream or vision that never comes.
Buttressing on that is a waste of time because our leaders never appreciate or will never encourage their ward to school in the country, instead they fly out, for so called education that they will never impact on their mother land.
So why will FG condemn our entertainers from growing the country if they can’t.
When them themselves never appreciate our own home made product yet they keep pumping our national fund into other man’s country and discouraging our own homemade products.
- Partnering with other country in entertainment (tourist, music, movie etc.) increases the recognition of a nation;
- With that, other country can partner with our country too (likes of Hollywood, Bollywood and others)
This is not discrimination but fact. Let's face fact and reality to move forward
Our government should focus more on our own product, country to partner with others in like of entertainment, build monuments that attract tourist into the nation. Instead of wasting fund on no profitable projects
This are example of movie shot in Nigeria from other countries industry, whether positive or negative, Hollywood has come to recognise Nigeria in a number of movies produced and have made reference to its location, people and culture.
1. CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR
3. Mister Johnson
4. SANDERS OF THE RIVER
And many to mention few.
Let encourage our product.
Keep equipping our schools and hospitals for a better use.
Entertainment speaks more of a country wellbeing.
