Jibrin’s invitation dated June 9, and was signed by the acting Head of Extractive Industry Grid Section, Michael Wetkas, was based on his allegations on budget padding against the leadership of the House and to answer questions concerning money looted through padding in the 2016 budget.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Comission (EFCC), later yesterday evening, grilled the embattled lawmaker for five hours at its head office in Abuja.
It was gathered that Jibrin arrived at the premises around 10:00am, where he remained until 3:00pm, after which he was asked to leave, Punch reports.
The lawmaker was asked to explain in details the budget process and how some of his colleagues, allegedly implemented constituency projects through some companies that they owned.
“Jibrin came on Tuesday as requested. He was with us from 10am till 3pm. He explained the process of budgeting and how the questionable insertions were put into the budget.
“A lot of those accused actually have a lot of explaining to do. We will invite all the accused persons separately,” an official of the EFCC said.
