The competition which will serve as qualifiers for the World Championships in Paris in August will commence on April 26 and end April 30.
The President of NWF, Daniel Igali, said that at this point he was optimistic that the ministry would release some funds.
He said he was hopefully that they could get some money enough to take some if not all the wrestlers to the competition.
“All the wrestlers scheduled to partake in this competition are winners from the 2nd Gov. Dickson National Wrestling Classics last month in Bayelsa.
“Some of them will be making their debut at international competition if they get to make it to the competition,’’ he said.
The Olympian added that all the Morocco-bound wrestlers were currently in open camp.
“They are all training in their states under the watchful eye of their coaches. I’m personally monitoring them all and they are in good form.
“The Nigerian Army are also working to ensure that their wrestlers who made the team participate,’’ said Igali.
Africa’s number one female wrestler, Odunayo Adekuoroye, said, “My target at the championship is to defend my title as African champion.
“I have put in so much effort into retaining my title and clinching a slot for the World Championships.
“If the need arises for me to sponsor myself to the competition, I will definitely do so.
“I feel very bad as a high-performance athlete going around to look for money to sponsor myself.
“What happens to my other colleagues who can’t afford to sponsor themselves to the competition?” RECEIVE NEWS UPDATE ON: WHATSAPP +234 701 056 0394, AND TWITTER: @247NGNEWSUPDATE, EMAIL: INFO@247NIGERIANEWSUPDATE.CO FOR INSTANT UPDATES ON INSTAGRAM CLICK HERE Share your story with us: email@example.com PLACE YOUR TEXT ADVERT BELOW:>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
