The Benue State Commissioner for Arts and Culture, Sekav Dzua-Iortyom who has been on the run after allegedly killing a university lecturer has landed in serious trouble.
A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Makurdi yesterday remanded the Benue State Commissioner in prison custody on allegation of murder. He was charged before the court for criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide and failure to attend in obedience to an order.
In August this year, he was questioned over the killing of one Aondosoo Wilfred Tondo, 50, a lecturer killed at his official residence within the University of Mkar in Gboko local government area of the state.
But shockingly, he went into hiding on the run since October 25 this year, when a Chief Magistrate Court also sitting in Makurdi remanded three people, including one of the 23 newly sworn-in local government sole administrators in the state, over the same matter.
Iortyom was however arrested on Monday as confirmed to newsmen in Makurdi yesterday by the State Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama, who added, “No matter how long one runs away, the hand of the law will still catch up with such person.”
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Ikyegh who ordered that the accused be remanded, adjourned the case to February 9, 2017.
