The chances of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Rotimi Akeredolu of winning the November 26th governorship election in Ondo State received a boost yesterday following the defection of over 1000 members of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and Alliance for Democracy (AD) to the party in Oke Agbe, the headquarters of Akoko North West Local Government Area.
The defectors who were led into the APC by a chieftain of PDP, Hon. Talabi Gabriel popularly called Gabson by his admirers and the Secretary of AD in Akoko North West Local Government Area, Mr Sunday Akindeji were received by the Director General of the Akeredolu Campaign Platform, Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan, Human Lawyer, Dr. Tunji Abayomi and APC senatorial chairman in Ondo North Senatorial District, Chef Ose Dembola and handed them over to Akeredolu.
The defectors who sang and danced for several minute expressed joy and happiness in the personalities of Akeredolu and an indigene of the town, Tunji Abayomi, promised to deliver the local government area to APC on November 26.
Akeredolu, Olabimtan and Abayomi who spoke respectively at the rally promised to correct the mistakes of the past in the local government if APC wins the coming governorship election.
The trio thanked the defectors for their support and equally urged them to beware of the antics of desperadoes who are deceiving people around that APC had collapsed its structure with AD, stating expressly that APC remain intact in Ondo State and it is mentally, intellectually and physically ready to end the age-long underdevelopment that had enveloped the state in the last eight years.
