1. Zambian national team
On April, 27 1993, a Zambian Air Force Buffalo DHC-5D which was carrying the team to Senegal for a 1994 World Cup qualification match crashed, killing all 30 passengers, including 18 players and a number of coaches. 2. Manchester United (England team)
A British European Airways flight 609 carrying Manchester United players otherwise known as the ‘Busby Babes’ crashed on its third attempt to take off from a slush-covered runway at Munich-Riem Airport killing 20 of the 44 on the aircraft died at the scene. The football team was returning from a European Cup match in Belgrade, Yugoslavia (now Serbia), against Red Star Belgrade.
3. Pakhtakor Tashkent FK (Uzbek team)
In the late 70s, Pakhtakor made it back to the Soviet Top League, but shortly thereafter disaster struck the club and Soviet football in August 1979. During a flight to play Dinamo Minsk, the club’s plane was involved in a mid-air collision in Ukrainian SSR. All 178 people aboard both planes involved died.
4. Torino FC (Italian team)
On May 4, 1949,an Italian Airline carrying the entire Torino football team crashed into the retaining wall at the back of the Basilica of Superga, which stands on the hill of Turin, with 31 victims; 23 died from the fatality.
5. Chapecoense (Brazilian team)
The world woke up to the tragic news of the fatal plane crash involving a Brazilian football team Chapecoense on Tuesday, November 29, 2016. It was gathered that the flight was transporting the team to Medellin airport in Colombia from Bolivia, when it disappeared off radar.
