A Kaduna-based waste management company, ZL Global Alliance Nigeria, says it evacuates eight tonnes of refuse daily in Kaduna state and its environs.
The Managing Director of the company, Mrs Abiola Bashorun, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna on Wednesday.
Bashorun said the wastes were generated and evacuated daily from Kaduna metropolis, Zaria and Kafanchan.
According to her, the rate of waste generation in the state is extremely high when compared to other bigger state hence the need for strategic intervention to meet up with the challenge.
She said her company had been given the approval by the state government for the smooth running of refuse evacuation as well as to improve the state’s internally generated revenue.
The managing director said the state government in partnership with the company had agreed that residents would soon begin to pay between N200 and N3,000 monthly for door-to-door waste collection.
She said the levy would be based on property, location and income cadre, adding that people in GRA with the big house would pay N3,000.
The managing director said that those in the low income cadre would pay as low as N200 monthly.
Responding to allegations of delayed salary payment of her workers, she said the state government had resolved it.
“We are meant to be paid every 30 days so we can also pay our staff as at when due.
“The last time we were paid was in July which may be due to bureaucracy and we quite appreciate those working with us for their understanding in this regard.”
Bashorun said the door-to-door evacuation would help the company to generate and less dependent on government to manage waste.
She said residents might equally make enough money from both wastes they generate to augment the monthly levy that would be introduced for effective management of waste in the state.PLACE YOUR TEXT ADVERT BELOW:>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
