Benue, where herdsmen have repeatedly killed hundreds of people in recent times has also seen recurring deadly cult clashes among university students.
On Oct. 12, a cult war at the Benue State University in Makurdi claimed the life of a 21-year -old student of the Department of Geography, Solomon Aondoaseer.
He was gruesomely murdered along with his girlfriend.

Earlier in June, students of the Federal University of Agriculture in Makurdi and a security man attached to a private students’ hostel in the school were similarly, killed by suspected cultists.
In July, suspected cultists shot and killed a retired policeman and his son in Makurdi.
Oshodi-Glover warned students to concentrate on their studies and shun vices or face the wrath of the law.
He said that the police were collaborating with other establishments to stamp out crime, noting that special daily patrols had been introduced to crush criminals.
“We have made so many arrests and we are discovering more hide-outs of these bad boys.
“The command has shown zero tolerance to all forms of criminal activities.’’
Oshodi-Glover said the command had arrested 104 youths, having deadly weapons, soliciting more co-operation from members of the public to curb crime.
“We will continue to treat all information on criminal activities with utmost secrecy so as to achieve the desired goal.”
He commended the State Government for its assistance to the police, appealing for more support to enable the police to do more.
