The make-believe ‘mentally unstable’ woman was nabbed at Oshodi bus stop in the state on Monday.
New Telegraph gathered that the woman had been living at the spot in the last two years.
The state police image maker, Dolapo Badmos, who commented on the incident, said officials of the Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC, intended to use ‘her abode’ and tried to evacuate her when they discovered the items.
It was learnt that the woman was behaving normal when the NRC officials moved close to her, but she suddenly put up a strange behavior, pretending to be a lunatic.
There are, however, indications the woman is working for, or with someone as she may not be mad.
A trader, who identified herself only as Rebecca, says she does not believe the woman was a lunatic.
According to Rebecca, “She used to come to my shop to buy detergent to wash her clothes and to bathe. I was surprised when she started behaving strangely now.
“Whenever she comes to buy from me, she always comes with crisp N500 notes.
“There was a day I closed late, I saw someone who parked beside the road and was discussing with the woman. But I did not hear what they were saying, so out of curiosity, I went to her the following day to ask her who the person was.
“She said those who come to visit her were her family members. The woman never begged for alms from passers-by.
The Police have vowed to look into the case and begin investigations.
Meanwhile, it would be recalled that in February, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS, of the state Police Command attached to the Victoria Island area arrested a suspected mad man, one Lanrewaju Jaiyeola, with two mobile phones, 22 Automated Teller Machine, ATM cards, several bank tellers of recent bank transactions and a power bank.
