I don’t want to Disappoint my daughter –Abimbola Ogunnowo
I am from a family of five and I am the first child. I have four siblings; two brothers and two sisters. I grew up with my loving parents and I still live with them. I am single and I have a daughter.
I have a diploma in Industrial Relations and Trade Unionism from the University of Ibadan. I am a thespian and I also did a part-time course in Theatre Arts.
I first became an actor eight years ago but I was on and off the scene because I was in school. A colleague, Femi Branch, introduced me to the movie world and I started out as a movie producer. I produced my first movie titledIfejafunmi in 2009 where I played a lead role. That was the role that thrust me into the limelight. I have gone on to produce four other movies; Okun Omo Iya, Eldorado, Jabira and Ibaje Ojokan. I have featured in some series such as Papa Ajasco.
Fame is not without its attendant challenges. It’s expensive but I have been able to handle it quite well. This is because I know what I want and I always pray to God to lead me aright and He has been so good.
I have had lots of challenges due to the fact that I had to combine acting with schooling. At the same time, I also had to take care of my baby so I’ve been in and out. Nonetheless, God has helped me to grow and stay focused; I am surrounded by good people who have helped me to grow in the industry. My parents have been my backbone and they have supported my career tremendously. For that, I remain eternally grateful to them.
Apart from being an actress, I am also into skin care. I sell beauty products on the side to make some money.
Motherhood has really changed my life because it comes with a lot of responsibilities. As a mother, your life suddenly changes and you have to do all you can to fit into your new role. It has affected my life positively because it’s like another phase of life for me. As a result, I am always careful about my comportment at all times because I do not want to disappoint myself and my daughter. I want to be a good role model to her and I always have that in mind. Motherhood is a lot of work but I get by.
I will commence work on a new project soon but I won’t divulge the details yet. I am taking my time so that I can come up with something good at the end of the day. That is the reason why I haven’t produced any new movie this year but I am working on something good that my fans will appreciate.
My sense of style is simple but classy. I am a fashionista but I like simple and graceful clothes. I look out for these qualities when choosing clothes. I wear clothes that are appropriate and I also love to follow fashion trends. I like to wear traditional attire because I am a Yoruba lady and I love to showcase my culture at all times. It defines who I am.
